Homework Tasks Thursday 15th May

These tasks are to be completed by next Thursday (22nd May)

Could pupils please take a new page in their homework diaries, list these activities, tick them off when they are done and get a parent to sign the page.

Lined paper can be requested from school if you don't have a suitable notebook to complete tasks in.

1. VCOP spelling activity
2. Reading
3. Maths

Here is what you need to do for each activity:

1. VCOP spelling activity

Choose five of your spelling words and write a VCOP sentence about each. (interesting Vocabulary, inventive Connectives, sparkling Openers and suitable Punctuation)
You could consider our work in class where we used íng' words as openers and used adverbs, a setting, person etc to make sentences interesting.

2. Reading

Go to http://michaelmorpurgo.com/images/uploads/book-excerpts/arthur.pdf and read pages 1-6. Answer the following questions:
1. After reading the short excerpt this week (p7-11), is the beginning of the story what you expected? Why?
2. Write five words to describe how the main character feels throughout pages 1-10.
3. If you could give the boy advice at any point what would it be?
4. What do you think they boy should do now?
5. What kind of person do you think the man that has been introduced is?

3. Maths

Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/maths/telling_the_time/play/popup.shtml and attempt the 'really hard'level. You should be able to do this quite easily, but if you can't try the other levels. You could have a look at the other games on the same website if you want.
